Receives Fifth NIMH Small Business Innovation Research Award (New York, NY; September 30, 2004) MediSpin Inc. has received its fifth Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) award from the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH). The SBIR program, a competitively awarded, three-phase Federal Government initiative, is designed to stimulate technological innovation and provide opportunities for small business. Since 2002, MediSpin has been awarded nearly $2 million in grants and contracts under the SBIR program. These include a Phase I grant and contract to create and implement Internet-based tools in the areas of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and geriatric mental health, respectively, as well as Phase I and follow-up Phase II contracts to create a Web-based professional education initiative for mental health research and mentoring training. Most recently, MediSpin received a Phase I contract for $100,000 to provide primary care providers with online training and support materials on postpartum depression (PPD).
