FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT:

(September 9, 2009) MediSpin, Inc. is the recipient of an NIMH Small Business Innovation Research SBIR Phase II contract (NIMH SBIR Contract #HHS-N271-2009-0033C) titled Families as Research and Treatment Partners: Developing Evidence-based Decision Aids for Mental Health Treatment Decisions. Physician-consultants from Duke University, lead by Allan Chrisman, MD and Richard D’Alli, MD are collaborating with MediSpin to create an educational Web site that will provide information about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to parents and primary care doctors and act as an individualized care management tool to optimize each child's ADHD treatment.

Statement of Work
This project proposes the development of an array of Internet-based decision aids including interactive educational and dissemination modules software that can be accessed by parents/caregivers, teachers, and primary care physicians, pediatricians, and special care clinicians, which would 1) educate parents via a user friendly, interactive decision aid that provides facts about ADHD, information about treatment options, and the possible outcomes of those options; 2) educate physicians about ADHD assessment and treatment; 3) allow web-based acquisition of rating scales from parents and teachers and provide web-based access reports to pediatricians; and 4) allow remote consultation with physicians about ADHD-related issues.

NIH CAP Program for commercialization of RxADHD and Decision Aid

Dear Brian:
Congratulations! MediSpin Inc. has been selected to participate in the 2009-2010 NIH SBIR Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP). You requested the Accelerator Commercialization Track (ACT), but after careful review of your application, it has been determined that you would gain greater benefits from the Commercialization Training Track (CTT).

The CTT will enable you to gain additional strength in the various business areas you identified in your application. While there are general deliverables that are required in this track, CTT is highly customized to identify and help resolve your needs and interests. Like the ACT, it too offers domain and industry experts that can provide valuable suggestions and guidance in real time to issues that you need to face and resolve. It also provides exposure to market experts who could make a difference to your competitive profile.

Again, congratulations on your selection and I look forward to meeting you at the workshop. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Judy at jhsieh@larta.org 213.538.1444 or me.

Sincerely,
Kay
